Senior sessions always have a way of being memorable, but this one will stick with me for a long time. We shot this session at The Birmingham Botanical Gardens and then headed downtown to the beautiful Federal Building. It was one of those freezing, cloudy days where the wind just cuts through you. And there she was- braving the cold like a champ in the cutest sundresses.

She started the session in a bright red dress that popped perfectly against white building. I love how red photographs when everything else feels muted and grey. It made her stand out in the best way. Then she changed into a classic white dress, and it was such a timeless look. Between the gardens and the downtown architecture, the mix of locations gave us a really fun variety of images.

And of course we had to have something that showed off her next big adventure- a BAMA t shirt. There’s something so sweet about capturing this phase of life, right before everything changes.

Even though it was miserably cold, she never complained once. She smiled through the shivers, laughed the whold time and made the session feel light and fun. These are the kind of sesions that remind me why I love photographing seniors- their excitement, their energy and the way they’re standing right on the edge of something new.
I can’t wait to cheer her on as she heads off to Alabama! Roll Tide!
