Backyard Wedding in Hoover, Alabama

Wedding

There’s something special about a wedding that happens exactly where a couple feels most like themselves — and for this couple, that place was their parents backyard in Hoover, Alabama.

This wasn’t their first walk down the aisle, and maybe that’s exactly why the day felt so unhurried and real. No stress, no over-the-top production — just the people who matter most, excited to celebrate! As a Birmingham-area wedding photographer, days like this remind me why I love what I do: they’re proof that a wedding doesn’t need to be big to be beautiful.

A Small Ceremony, Surrounded by Family

Only family gathered in the backyard where the ceremony took place. Every face in the crowd was someone who truly mattered, and you could feel that closeness in every part of the day. The adorable piano player was a nephew, while flowers were done by a family friend.

Cake, Dancing, and Pure Joy

After the ceremony, the celebration moved into high gear with cake and dancing inside. This is always my favorite part of a wedding day to photograph — it’s when everyone lets their guard down, and you get the real, unposed, laughing images that a couple will treasure forever.

Why I Love Backyard Weddings

Backyard weddings like this one are such a great reminder that a wedding is about the people, not the production. Whether you’re planning a small second wedding, a small family-only ceremony, or a full 200-guest celebration, my goal is always the same: to capture the real, in-between moments that you’ll want to look back on for the rest of your life.

If you’re getting married in Hoover, Birmingham, or anywhere in the surrounding areas — Vestavia Hills, Homewood, Mountain Brook, Alabaster, Trussville, and beyond — I’d love to be part of your day.

Booking a Wedding Photographer in the Birmingham Area

I’m based in Hoover, Alabama, and I work with couples throughout the greater Birmingham area. While I’ve built a big part of my portfolio photographing families, newborns, and high school seniors, weddings hold a special place in my heart — and I’m actively taking on new wedding clients for 2026 & 2027.

If you’re planning a wedding — big or small, traditional or backyard, first marriage or second — I’d love to hear your story and talk about how I can help capture it.
